1. Let the light in!

Good lighting makes one of the biggest impacts on the atmosphere of your home.
Light is a large determinant of your mood and energy level, which is why the light you include in your home matters. Natural sunlight has been shown to make us feel happier! Incorporating lots of sunshine where you can certainly make your home feel happy and fun. Make use of windows in your home by keeping blinds open where possible and letting some natural air and light in. The morning time is best!
Ensuring that your light fixtures give off warm shades of white or yellow promote relaxation. You may also consider using additional sources of light such as candles and twinkle lights. These decorative little details can make your home feel fun and warm! Lighting is more important than it might seem. Incorporating these changes can elevate the ambiance in your abode and create a cozy vibe!

2. Add life with plants and flowers!

Plants can bring a sense of well-being and they just bring life to a space. Adding florals and greenery are great decorating items that will bring a smile to the face of anyone who enters your home! Place a fresh bouquet of flowers on a kitchen table or window sill to create a very intimate and welcoming feeling! There are also plenty of low

maintenance house plants to add to any of the rooms in your house. Plants can improve the air in your home which can make each space feel calmer and cleaner making you and your guests feel more relaxed and happy in your home.

3. Declutter!

It’s extremely difficult to feel cozy and comfortable in space that is dominated by clutter. You want to be in an environment where you can relax. Piled up clothes, bills on your kitchen counter, toys in every corner, are all constant reminders of unfinished tasks that hinder you from ever feeling relaxed. Life can be constant chaos, we get it! A home doesn’t need to be clean 24/7 but some level of order helps! If surfaces are clear and every item has its own home, you’ll find that you already feel more at ease in your surroundings.

4. Bring out scents!

Smell is one of the senses we use most frequently. Our sense of smell gives a feeling of comfort when we come across an aroma we find pleasing. Scents like pumpkin pie, fresh laundry, or the smell of pine trees are common scents some may find nostalgic. Scents can trigger our emotions which is why it’s important to think about how our homes smell to us and our guests. Diffusing essential oils or lighting fragrant candles are great ways to bring out the scent in your home!

If you’re a fan of Fall scents, here’s a tip! Cut an apple in to quarters and place it in a small pan. Fill the pan with water, add cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Simmer on the stovetop being cautious about not letting the water boil away! This trick will have your home smelling like fresh apple pie in no time!

5. Showcase your loved ones!

Since our coziest memories tend to occur in the places we enjoy, surrounded by the people we love, displaying these memories is a wonderful way to fill the blank walls in your home. Photos that celebrate life’s favorite moments bring intimacy to a home. The more you surround yourself with things that make you feel good, the more you’ll capture that feeling of home.
